Workstead : Selected works

I couldn’t decide on which residential project to pick when I stumbled on Workstead‘s website ! So rather than showing you some bits and pieces, here is a wide selection of sleek, rich and simply beautiful interior design works by Stefanie Brechbuehler, Robert Andrew Highsmith and Ryan Mahoney, founders of the Brooklyn and the Hudson Valley based design firm.

47 Plaza – This project included the refinishing of a 1928 pre-war apartment in the Rosario Candela – designed 47 Plaza Building on Prospect Park in Brooklyn. All of the original trim and moldings, as well as new casework, were painted to match.

47 Plaza – The original floors were sanded, and new custom wooden handles were added to the casework throughout. The handles are carved to emerge from the flat doors to allow the hand to comfortably grip each cabinet.

47 Plaza – Throughout the project there is a subtle play of light as the French Gray color changes throughout the day, while the solid wood elements fuse the new and the old. A modern sensibility is created within the context of the prewar vocabulary of this landmark Brooklyn building.

Prospect Park – This project involved a complete reorganization of spaces, with highly tailored millwork creatively positioned throughout. The cabinets define the programmatic elements of the home.

Prospect Park – Modern in form, simple in material, but complex in texture, hand painted elements conceal a warm walnut beyond. Rich wood and colorful brass create a sense of grace and punctuate a backdrop to the bustle of everyday life.
