Fort Standard for Roll & Hill : Counterweight lighting

It’s not the first time that I have been featuring Fort Standard’s work : I simply like their warm-contemporary aesthetic. Based in Brooklyn, Fort Standard is a contemporary industrial design studio founded by Gregory Buntain and Ian Collings. They are just back from Milan Design Week where they have debuted several new projects for the furniture and lighting fair, including this new series of lights, now available at Roll & Hill.

Counterweight is a series of LED fixtures made of gently arching, steam-bent wood that uses marble and brass as ballasts. Whether acting to cantilever the arms of the mobile light, or fixed as the base of the floor lamp, the mass of the stone and metal acts as a foil to the otherwise lightweight frames.
