Monolith is a superb and spectacular red cedar dining table designed by Queens-based Alex Gil, founder of the multidisciplinary high-design studio Spacecutter.
“All too often, the pairing of a dining table & chairs is not fully considered. Monolith Table, however, is conceived as a singular, eroded experience. When not is use, the chairs can be tucked in leaving an abstract, solid image. The outer surface is bleached while the inner lining reveals the woods rich color. A functional, interpretation of the monolith from 2001: A Space Odyssey. It is a timeless piece that gets better with age & wear.”

Alex Gil’s dining room table was exhibited last year in New York at BOFFO Show House together with Hanging Trees floral design by Ovando, ceramics by Melissa Gamwell and Natalia Criado, and the wonderful Tropical Birds wallpaper mural designed by Argentinian artist based in Antwerp Pablo Piatti and printed in collaboration with Tres Tintas Barcelona – Photo © Evan Joseph

It is really an unusual and unique design of a dining table. I must say that I really liked it.
Wow – unusual table and stunning interior decor. Love wall paper with birds too! We thought about sourcing textiles with birds patterns, probably it is the right decision…
