Discovering Studio Piet Boon

STUDIO PIET BOON headquarters, Amsterdam | Flodeau.com

Last week, I hopped on a plane to the wonderful city of Amsterdam, on the invitation of the prestigious Amsterdam Marriot who kindly asked me to join them on their 40th birthday celebration. On this special anniversary occasion, Marriott Amsterdam appointed Dutch design company Studio Piet Boon to re-design their new guest rooms (I’ll tell you more about that collaboration in my next post).

So, the first part of my Dutch trip was discovering the world of Piet. Last Friday morning, I, together with a tiny group of (lucky) bloggers, was picked-up from the Marriott in shiny Land Rovers who took us to the studio’s headquarters. There, foamy cappuccinos and colorful macarons where served whislt we had a private tour of the showroom displaying Boon’s truly gorgeous furniture collection. Then we wandered in the upper floors of the building, visiting the design team offices and Piet’s private office.

I knew about a bit the studio’s works but really, nothing compared to all I saw and learned during this trip. To make the story short, Studio Piet Boon is an internationally renowned design practice recognized for its multi-disciplinary design services and its talent of balancing functionality, aesthetics and individuality into one of a kind design experiences. Over the years Studio Piet Boon has grown into a globally operating design company that manages an exclusive portfolio of private, corporate and commercial clients.

Piet Boon’s contemporary furniture is about functionality, comfort and timeless design. I pretty much fell in love with every piece, their soft-tone colors and their exquisite materials (bad news for me, as I now crave for one of their soft leather sofas..!).

After a tour of the studio, we all headed for lunch at the exquisite Restaurant de Kas – the first restaurant designed by Piet Boon.

As usual, I shot tons of pictures – the entire place and the furniture collection were too much of a luxury eye-catcher!

So I’ll leave you now with the images. In my next post, I’ll show you the looks and style of the Amsterdam Marriott‘s new guest rooms design by Piet Boon team.
