Central Design Studio : Chooks restaurant

London based interior design company Central Design Studio has sent me images of their latest project. Chooks is a new concept for a restaurant specialising in chicken, with their first site in Muswell Hill, North London, which opened a couple of weeks ago. The atmosphere here is raw and unfinished, with references to retro Americana.

Chooks is a new chicken restaurant concept by Gideon Joffe, the man behind Chez Bob and Monkeynuts in North London, and is now open on The Broadway, Muswell Hill. The focus is on freshly grilled birds, subs and salads served alongside craft beers, wines and frozen margaritas, all in a relaxed and informal atmosphere.

For the interior design, Central Design Studio have taken inspiration from retro Americana, with elements of the building stripped back and exposed to give a raw and unrefined look. The floor and ceiling are in reclaimed timber, whilst the walls are exposed brick with neon artwork.

Bench seating is made out of natural birch ply, and table tops are finished in bespoke laminates based upon original retro designs. Furniture is a mix of new and old, sourced from vintage furniture shops and markets in North London.

Brand design agency Mystery have created the graphics, signage and printed material, whilst illustrator Jon Powell has created several bespoke hand drawings applied to metal tiles within the space.
