Brazilian architecture studio Galeazzo Design has sent me images of a terrace apartment they have recently completed in São Paulo. The offbeat styling and interior design are inspired by the crossing between the Oriental and Occidental cultures.
88m2 that make you travel round the world and back … to South America.
Here, the Eastern and Western cultures run alongside – references to Asian traditions and materials commune with Occidental design and art.
The open-space living and dinning rooms are divided by a large rough linen sofa sitting in front of a contemporary fireplace made of exotic granite. Inspired by origami foldings, the designers chose to segment the walls and ceiling by using bold colors to break the spaces’ volumes.
The high-tech bamboo floors contrast with the extravagant wallpaper printed with stylized golden dragons hanging on the back wall of the living room.
The bamboo, lacquer and hardwood furniture mixes with the iconic Mid-Century wall sconce by Serge Mouille, and the Crystal Saint Louis chandelier converses with a circular shaped shelf inspired by Chinese bookshelves.
