How about some material authenticity in our increasingly digital world? And how about a preciously handcrafted office desk brush designed by French designer Amaury Poudray? PUKKA is the result of his collaboration with the one-century old French brand Andrée Jardin.

It is also an object which proves that the design and manufacture of quality always makes sense and that it can soften our small daily actions.” Manufactured by Brosserie Julio, PUKKA perpetuates nowadays Andrée Jardin’s traditions and know-how with handcrafted and exclusive quality brushes. The 999 limited edition PUKKA brush will be exhibited at Maison&Objet starting next week in Paris (January 24-28) and displayed at the Galeries Lafayette Maison from January 31 until February 16.

PUKKA brushes are made of horsehair. The stainless steel handle comes in 3 different wood finishes (Sycamore, Oak or Sapelli).

The story behind the brand – “96 years ago, Georges-René Julio, future husband of Miss Andrée Jardin, began to learn how to make brushes, in Nantes, western France, on the side of the river Erdre, close to the slaughterhouse of Talansac where he got the raw materials. In 1947 he started his first workshop.
Decades after decades, our brushes workshop supplied the industry. And from father to son, specialized in on-demand brushes. The golden age of plastic and the begining of globalization, downgrade what we used to call “ les articles de Paris” : hair brushes, make up brushes, clothes brushes…
Nowadays, it is difficult to find a real broom, a genuine épousette or a reliable brush. We are decided to give an answer to this sad statement. Jean-Baptiste and François-Marie, grandson of Miss Jardin, make mythical brushes in French noble wood, genuine products which ever last.”
