Self-taught graphic designer from Paris Pierre Kiandjan has sent me his recent work : 5’6″SUB, a custom optical art inlayed surfboard he illustrated in collaboration with Californian surfboard shaper Matt Parker of San Clemente based Album Surfboards. Available for local pickup or online shopping at Album.
Pierre draws his inspiration from music album artworks, optical art, and Mœbius comics.
“As I’m selecting consistent color mixes, I aim to create illusion of motion, space, or temperature. The challenge consists in gathering simple shapes within complicated blendings. I cross shadow and light effects with eclectic shades and patterns. This way, I try to shake things up a little in the realm of optic art”. — Pierre Kiangjan
