Florence Deau Présenté cette semaine dans le cadre de l’exposition “Nouvelle Vague” au Centre Culturel Français pour le Salon de Milan 2011, Rush est un prototype de chaise imaginé par Juan Pablo Naranjo et Jean-Christophe Orthlieb fondateurs du studio parisien NOCC.
Entièrement couverte de paille selon la technique traditionnelle de rempaillage, cette technique, associée à la culture populaire et paysanne est ici utilisée pour raviver la mémoire que chacun entretien avec ce type de chaises.
La paille a comme envahi Rush dans son intégralité pour en devenir son essence. L’utilisation d’une structure métallique permet finesse et design aérien rompant avec l’aspect massif traditionnel tout en en gardant les gènes.
About : Rush is a chair that is entirely covered with straw using a traditional rushing technique. This technique, strongly associated in popular culture with traditional peasant furniture, is used here to trigger the memory of the childhood chair. The straw, which evokes the memory of the childhood chair, is transposed and expanded on the Rush chair to the point where it becomes the main element.
Through this process, the memory is transformed into the essence of the chair. Thanks to the inner steel structure, the chair’s overall shape is no longer restricted to the bulky aesthetic of the past; it appears light and aerial, maintaining the stiffness that the rushing technique affords.
