The Cutlery Project

Sketchy, nearly childlike shapes are present in many pieces by Dutch designer Maarten Baas, as for this knife, fork, tablespoon and teaspoon designed for newborn Belgian design label valerie_objects.

Maarten Baas’ set is part of a larger cutlery collection created by international designers including Jinhyun Jeon (KR/NL), Muller Van Severen (B), Studio Simple (B/NL), Koichi Futatsumata (JPN) and Studio Wieki Somers (NL) for valerie_objects. All designers were asked to create the same thing: a prototype set of tools to eat with. The result is six totally quirky high-end luxury sets of cutlery that surprise and delight eyes, hands and mouth.
valerie_objects will be present next week in Milan with beautiful new pieces under the arches at Palazzo Litta, as a part of A Matter of Perception: Tradition and Technology, Palazzo Litta, Corso Magenta 24.
