Michigan-based designer Matthew Strong has created a reborn Eames-inspired sofa using the most modern materials and the most traditional methods.
About – Woven using a traditional woven caning pattern out of 12k carbon fiber tow, the sofa weighs in at single digits, the weaving pattern adding substantial strength to the design and helping with cross-bond adhesion. The sofa’s form is based on a series of prototypes at the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn, Michigan of an extruded fiberglass shell armchair that was being developed in the late 1950′s.
